The WDLTA was formed in 1967 with the objectives being to provide and promote Lawn tennis for clubs in the neighbourhood of Warrington .To arrange leagues,matches,tournaments and events in accordance with the laws of the lawn tennis association with a view to the advancement ,interest and fellowship of the game.
The league currently has 18 member clubs from Warrington and the surrounding district, these including teams from Wigan, Leigh and Widnes. There are Gents and Ladies leagues which run concurrently from April to July, when both are replaced by a Mixed league until the end of August.
Currently the Gents league has 66 teams divided into 8 divisions ,the Ladies 53 teams divided into 7 divisions and the Mixed 55 teams in 7 divisions.
The Association hosts two major official LTA tournaments.
The Stockton Heath Tournament, this year June 16th to 23rd, is a senior Tournament with events for Ladies, Men and Veterans in both singles and doubles plus Mixed doubles and an under 23 mens event.
The Warrington Junior Tournament, this year July 6th,7th,8th, has official rating status and incorporates singles and doubles events for both boys and girls in age groups
under 12 ; 14 ; 16 ; 18., plus an under 18 mixed event.
Both Tournaments will be held at Stockton Heath lawn Tennis club in 2007
