We are situated right on the side of the River Thurso and very close to all amenities. The railway station is a short 5 minute walk and the bus drop off point is right around the corner. If you are travelling by car then there is free car parking for all our guests. |

Lots of individual shops are in the heart of the town just around the
corner, which makes Thurso a fine place for shopping as well as being an
excellent base for touring the Highlands and Islands.

| About The North of Scotland |
|
The North of Scotland offers a varied range of landscapes. Caithness is very flat with a rocky coastline providing excellent sea-fishing and sub-aqua opportunities. Caithness has a variety of lochs which are renowned for their prolific trout, and salmon are found in the rivers. There are two main towns, Thurso and Wick and lots of small villages which all offer their own glimpses of the local history. Wick has a very good heritage centre and Thurso has a Castle, heritage centre and for those wishing more up to the minute pastimes, a cinema and bowling alley as well. Because so many villages in Caithness are situated near the sea there are some wonderful harbours to visit. Some of the attractions in Thurso:

Taxis to the Scrabster Ferry Terminal are approx £3.00 – we are happy to arrange a taxi for you. There are now a couple of touring companies. Ross Tours and Caithness Tours. This is a great way to discover the abundance of interesting features of Caithness. Scrabster Ferry terminal is very close at just 2 miles from Waterside House and the Gills Ferry terminal is just 10 miles on the road to John O'Groats. |

John O’Groats Foot Passenger ferry is a scenic 20 miles. At John O'Groats you will also find a variety of craft shops and work-shops, boat
trips taking you to view Duncansby stacks seals and much more.

There are many good “eateries” in Thurso. We have menus from our favourite ones available for our guests to look at. Many of the local hotels offer a good evening menu. Thurso also has Chinese and Indian takeaways, a Bistro and numerous other hotels and café's. |

We have a brand new Fire Certificate, and have recently installed fire doors and a central fire alarm system, with emergency lighting, to all rooms. This complies with the Fire Precautions Act 1971.
