The plucky heroine Daisy Meredith, an elementary school girl, wins a scholarship to Grangewood School for Young Ladies. However, she is soon forced to face snobbish prejudice from her jealous schoolgirl rivals, Sybil Burlington and Monica Smithers. Despite their attempts to have her expelled, Daisy, along with her newly found best chum, Trixie Martin, is determined to find the missing treasure and save the school from financial ruin.

However, the ‘gels’ are not your everyday pupils; with an average age of approaching 40, they are revelling in this uncommonly rare opportunity to go back to school and are having a spiffing time!
