Stockton Heath Tournament 2009                                  Held at

Grappenhall Lawn Tennis Club

 

 

Although entries were again down, the Tournament was once again a success.

The weather over the week was  good , with finals day overcast.

 

Thanks to the Grappenhall club were again excellent hosts  and to Monkhouse sports for sponsorship, and to Slazenger for providing balls and prizes

Thanks also to Suzanne Robertson,Ann Witter Janet Cliffe for their help throughout, to all the players and spectators and last but not least to match referee John Woodroofe for all the hard work he puts in over the week to make sure everything runs to time.

 

A fine performance by Kim Schmider saw her retain her Ladies Singles, Ladies doubles and Mixed doubles titles. Ann Witter also had a good week to retain her Veteran singles, doubles and mixed titles.

The new Mens singles winner was last years runner up Luke Baxter , who combined with Gareth Benger to win the doubles as well.

Others to retain titles were Mike Denmade in the Vets singles , Neil barber /Paul Wilson in Vets doubles and Dilys Bowes /Audrey Brown in the ladies div.3 & below event.

New winner of the U23 event was Lane’s Andrew Beswick.
