Project Outcomes

In broad terms the project will achieve the following outcomes:

·        A new focus for the community.

·        Will act as a catalyst for greater community cohesion.

·        Will deliver a building that is much more sustainable than the existing one, providing measurable environmental benefits.

·        Will provide a facility that will be more inclusive and accessible to the broader community and one that allows for real diversity and future proofing of activity.

·        Will secure a sustainable neighbourhood in Madeley support economic regeneration within the Borough.

·        Will provide a greater range of activities within the village for leisure and educational needs.

Project Objectives

·         Community premises that are more viable: by having one location which has more flexible premises and a building will offer a better environment, a greater range of facilities and will cost less to run.

·         Broader access to and greater range of services: more people and groups will be able to use the building because of the more flexible lay-out.

·         Improved community relations and networks: there is currently very little for young people and and there is no real focus for the community. Having improved facilities will mean that people of different ages will be using the Hall at the same time and therefore increasing their understanding and tolerance of each other.

·         Premises that use less energy, cause less pollution, create less waste and contribute less to climate change: we have several local people and groups with expertise in this area who will ensure that the new building impacts significantly less on the environment.

The plan shown above is used for illustrative purposes only. The Project Team is in the process of revising the plans with our architects and will consult on the latest versions as they become available.

·         Increased participation by the community in the decisions that affect their lives: having new users of the Village Hall will mean new members on the users' committee and more involvement in the development of the whole community.

·         Greater number and wider range of new services: having smaller rooms as well as a hall we will be able to offer surgery space to organisations like CAB, PCT, Age Concern, Connexions, Social Services, to come to the village to offer more accessible services to local people.
