January 2008

Plans have been developed for a multi-use facility built employing the latest eco friendly technologies including a new Police post, community café and other facilities.

These plans were submitted to the Big Lottery in April 2007 and in December they announced that we had been successful in getting to stage two and subject to obtaining the commitment of other funding sources of around £1 million pounds (only) we are in line for a grant of half a million pounds.

We were also awarded a £20,000.00 development grant that has enabled us to employ a professional Project Manager to assist us in driving the proposals forward.

March 2008

The Project has further developed with interest now being shown from the Community Learning Partnership in a potential location for its Children's Centre, the village Post Office and potential links with the newly proposed Extra Care development.

April 2008

The news has been announced that Housing 21 have been appointed Staffordshire County Council as their preferred partner to provide an Extra Care facility on the adjoining site to the Madeley CDP.

May 2008

Housing 21 are now working in partnership with the community to delivered an innovative joined up project with the Extra Care facility. Madeley CDP holds a second major community consultation and participation event at the Village Hall. The event is very successful being attended by around 400 people.

June 2008

A Planning Submission has now been submitted for the new Centre. A contractor has been appointed to build the Centre and detailed specifications have now begun.

August 2008

The Planning Committee of Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council approve the plans for the new Centre and grant planning permission.

September 2008

The Stage 2 Lottery Bid is completed and submitted to the BIG Lottery Community Buildings Fund. The outcome of this will be known in February 2009.

Newcastle Borough Council Cabinet approve support funding of £160,000 for the Community Development Project.

October 2008

The building contractor is selected to finailise the design and build the new Centre. Thomas Vale Construction will be appointed on the basis of a Partnering Contract and will work in partnership with both Madeley Village Hall Charity and Housing 21.

November 2008 

Madeley Community Development is confirmed as the location for the new Children's Centre for the Newcastle Rural Area. The Children's facilities will be integrated into the the new building and provide a number of new services to the community.

December 2008

The BIG Lottery come to Madeley for a site visit and to discuss the new development.

January 2009

Service Integration Group is formed to move forward services within the Rural areas of Newcastle.

February 2009

A bid is submitted to the Low Carbon Buildings Fund to support the environmental technology installations. Housing 21 receives confirmation that it has been successful with its bid to the Homes and Communities Agency to support the building of the Extra Care development.

March 2009

The Madeley Community Development Project receives confirmation that it has been successful with its BIG Lottery bid for £479,625.
