Meeting Place: The Scout Hut in Our Lady of the Wayside car park. Time: 7:30
p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fridays. Subscriptions: £20 per term payable on the first week of every new term (Jan,
Easter, Sept.). Please send cheque (to 2nd Shirley Scout Group) or cash in named
envelope. This money covers insurance and all expenses of weekly Troop nights.
The only other money which may be required is for camp/days out which is kept to
a minimum and is of course optional. Church Parade: This
takes place on the second Sunday of every month except August at 9 a.m. Mass.
All boys are asked to make an effort to attend and there are refreshments in the
Parish Hall afterwards. Uniform: This
is available from Early Years, Stratford Road, Shirley or the Camping and
Outdoor Centre, 62 New Street, Bimingham Jade Green Shirt. Blue
Scout activity trousers and belt or charcoal grey school trousers. Black
shoes & grey socks. Badges,
woggle are provided by the troop. Neckerchief
is available from the group. Behaviour: Please
impress on your son that a high standard of behaviour is required at all times,
especially when undertaking adventurous activities. However never send him to
Scouts against his will and do get in touch with a leader if there is a problem.
Also please inform the leaders if your son cannot attend for any particular
reason. It helps the leaders plan the activities. Fund Raising: We
are fortunate to have an Executive committee which is a group of parents who
undertake to arrange events e.g. Autumn Fayre, Jumble Sale. Please give them
your full support, as without funds we cannot train new leaders, equip and
maintain the hut & replace worn out camp equipment etc. Leaders: The
following leaders are currently helping with the troop though if you have any
spare time to offer we would very much appreciate any extra help that you can
provide. Especially if you have a hobby or profession, which would be
interesting to the Scouts, please let the leaders know. Dave
