Barbados

Barbados - flag - Barbado,Barbade,Barbadosa, Barbada

Bonanza Apartments, next to the Bean and Bagel, St Lawrence Gap, Christchurch.  Really basic studio - bed linen and towels changed x2 week and hot running water (when the manager remembers to pay the water bill, otherwise it gets cut off).  Dover Beach is just across the road.  Dover Stores and an internet cafe are next door.  No shortage of taxi drivers - especially Benji who drove us several times to Bridgetown and especially thanks to him when he helped us pick up our bikes.
On Dover Beach we found find White Sands!  A fantastic bar with wonderful staff.  Mark, Austin, George (the boss), Jeffrey.  We spent most of our evenings here and were lucky enough to see turtles hatching on our first night.  The music is good, from Austin's fine selection from Clarence Carter to Motorhead, via Frank Sinatra and Level 42 ( No !).  Robert may be around with his massage table.  He is allowed to use the premises for his work, as long as he sweeps the sand away from the bar area in return.
The beach at White Sands is peaceful and not crowded with tourists.  The 'sands' owns 8 or so wooden beach beds, lovingly tended by Jeffrey.  If you go to the "sands" you must remember to "keep it real man".  Unless the conversation turns to cricket.
We didn't spend all our time in the bar either!  These photos were taken on our third attempt to find Crane Beach.  It looks so easy on the map too. Up out of Oistins - Hills and hairpins.  The Rough Guide says this island is flat!  In the end we decided to take the highway, rather than the minor roads
