Work in Progress Techniques leading to my current 'Coastlines' series to be found in my Portfolio.
An eco-friendly holiday walking the Northumberland Coast inspires an exploration of selected images. I am aiming to restrict the colour palette to 'black' and white/natural and let the texture of the cloth take over. Sketches and photographs from my sketchbook lead to experimentation with a variety of media, and materials. Working title: Northumberland Walk
'Giant Hogweed, Harebells
Looking through these to a striped water/landscape'
Fabric pen, and free machining
Patterns in the rocks and pebbles.
Wax resist on paper
Abaca Tissue, waxed, dyed, slashed and stitched
Cliff tops and rock strata
Rock strata interpreted with paint and granular texture
The stripey nature of the sea, sand, grass, strata and sky are interpreted with strips with raw edges.
