Mark Blight

Mark Blight

Mark is another Westleigh stalwart. He bats right- handed and has developed a mean cover drive. He is another winter nets regular who bowls donkey drops and is an excellent fielder (also the model for the “Times Past” photo)

Michael Braund

Michael Braund

(Scampi…..? Presumably from the swift and enthusiastic way he scampers (?) around the field. If there’s a darker reason for the name I’d be delighted to know about it!)
Erstwhile very successful skipper of Bideford and Westleigh, Mike is another all- rounder: top order batsman, shrewd seam bowler, independent thinker and master tactician. He can always make things happen. He’s a fierce competitor on the field and just as irrepressible off it. Great exponent of the leg theory! …..er, anything to do with fries?)

Jon Brewer

Jon Brewer

(Brew…how original is that?)
Vice Captain of the First XI:
Like so many of the players, Brew is an all-rounder. A true Westleigh stalwart, he bowls highly accurate, wicket to wicket seamers and maintains an economy rate that would make Gordon Brown envious. He is a versatile RH batsman who bats anywhere in the order, and quite often does.
