Chris Brown

Chris Brown

Another young player with enormous potential with both bat and ball. He has made tremendous progress this season, in particular, and his bowling gets faster every game. His obvious superior ball sense is evidenced by his top class fielding and ability to score runs quickly. Already an international table tennis player, his innate intelligence combined with a natural ability will ensure a highly successful future.

Mark Brown

Mark Brown

(Mortgage… could have something to do with his work)
Another former skipper and another all- rounder. Mark is a hard- hitting right- handed batsman and effortless seam bowler! Often enjoys intellectual discourse with the opposition during the game, particularly the master batters! A vital piece in Westleigh’s successful jigsaw though, and always gives 100% (plus interest), a recent example of which was playing in the record scoring game against Witheridge with a broken wrist…. and taking a catch!

John Eastley

John Eastley

Mid-week skipper and organiser. Opening bat and former seam bowler. A cultured stroke maker and master of the late cut (sometimes cut late!) and leg glance: has been known to cut a half-volley from outside the leg stump. John devotes much time and effort to Westleigh CC. Among his credits are:
Designing and building the score hut (patent applied for!)
Resurrecting the Triple Ransome…. A vintage if ever there was one.
Maintaining the Pavilion
Organising the winter nets at Grenville College and après nets at the Joiners.
Founder of the A.P.A. etc.

It’s great to see Russell back after his lay off, and playing proper shots! He should soon be bamboozling the opposition again with his subtle variations in flight and pace.
