MATCH REPORT PRESTON VILLAGE V ISFIELD JUNE 20 2009
ISFIELD 210-7, VILLAGE 191 ALL OUT. ISFILED WIN BY 19 RUNS.
Here is the news...
An exciting win on Saturday against Preston Village. James lost the toss and his voice shouting against the traffic noise. Village put us in and the skipper went early to a ball that kept low and clipped the off bail. (I know that doesn't make logical sense but I'm just reporting what James said and the facts of the case). Anyway Healey and Chasseaud made steady progress against a highly excitable quickie down from Cambridge (or is it 'up'). Healey went for 27 and Joe G-P for 10 before a highly entertaining 37 from the club captain pushed the innings forward. Emile got his usual 64 before the innings of the day from Jamie Hall. Facing the returning Cambridge 'Blue', he first clouted him over extra cover for 6 and then on the final ball reverse swept him for another to reach 20 not out and with the score 210-7 off 48 overs.
In reply Preston made good progress especially when Woody went for shedloads in one over that seriously put a defeat as best bet.
With catches going down right left and centre it looked like it was all over with the hosts only needing 3 per over off the last 10. Then with the game in the bag an inexplicable runout as the best of the Village batsmen needlessly took on Stef's arm and was short of his ground by a mile going for a non-existent second. The last 3 wickets tumbled and the game was won by 19 runs with a couple of overs to go.
Isfield 210-7 (Emile 64, Steve N 37, Healey 27, Jamie Hall 20*)
