General comments - Hard drive is noisy on startup (seek, clicking) but quietens within a minute. - Hard drive does cause a fair amount of vibration (cured by sitting unit on a sponge!). - Hard drive spins down in stand by. - Cooling fan remains on in stand by (but is very quiet). - Stand by takes ~10 seconds to enter or exit. - Front panel displays channel name (truncated to 7 characters) and the time. - Recorded video can be transferred to a PC with the USB albeit limited to 10-20Mb/s. - The EPG includes a window of the last channel viewed. This does not change when scrolling through the EPG. - Whilst dual recording, channels not available (not on either mux being recorded) are greyed out. Attempting to select one of these channels brings up the message 'This channel is restricted by recording'. - Recording of subtitles if transmitted. - EPG data is lost when switched into standby. - Front display is too bright and does not dim in standby. - MP3 playback does not support 48kHz sampled tracks. Shortcuts/Hints - Use the playlist button (under the remote flap) to select recorded programs rather than Menu > Record > Recored Programme. - When editing a recording, press pause to access the onscreen keys. Known bugs - 'I think I'm recording' bug reintroduced with firmware version .06 (due to new autopadding feature). Unit appears to be recording continously, in and out of standby. Unit has to be rebooted to cure this. This bug has been fixed with version .08. Wishlist Archiving - Allow output of a recorded progam to the VCR or TV SCART whilst still allowing normal viewing. - Add option in menu to disable on-screen notification of recording about to start. I-plate - Use of the up and down arrow keys to enable viewing of what's on other channels without changing channels. - Use of left and right to view past the current now and next. To 1 day forward? Live buffer - When watching in time-slip, allow viewing till end of buffer if two tuners needed. EPG - Storing of EPG data to hard disk, so it's available instantly on startup. - Increase the current limit of recordings from 20 to 100. - Display more than 4 channels. This could be achieved by making each row only a single line. See here. - Display a three character day next to the date i.e. Sun 28/10. Editing function - Allow use of fast forward and rewind keys. Using the onscreen back/forward keys is tedious. MP3 playback - Allow sorting of tracks by name. Currently listed by date transferred to Humax. - Auto-levelling of volume. - When reformatting hard disk allow setting of partition size for MP3/Pictures. - Screensaver for MP3 and radio playback.
