The Parish Path Partnership (P3)

This is a scheme where groups carry out practical improvements to their local public rights of way network. This work varies from simple waymarking and minor clearance up to replacing stiles with gates and installing small bridges and strimming paths. Training and support is given to the groups to enable them to work as self sufficiently as possible. Some P3 groups have also produced local walking leaflets and got involved in the national walking for health scheme. The P3 scheme begun in the early 90’s and has thrived ever since, there are now some 60 groups carrying out thousands of hours of work each year.

Whitchurch Walkers are the local P3 Group and, with the support of the Shropshire Council's Countryside Access Team, we have carried out many activities in and around Whitchurch to help keep our footpaths open and clearly marked. We are also currently actively involved with Shropshire Council in producing a new booklet of walks in our area. If you feel you could give any time to help we would be delighted to hear from you.
