Whitstable Lifeboat launched to assist the 30' motor
cruiser Enterprise II, disabled with engine failure off Warden Point.
On arrival the vessel was found to be 300 yards off the
rocky shoreline and motoring slowly towards Sheerness, having been able to
restart their engine. Crewman Martin Easton was put aboard, with the
intention of escorting them into the Medway.
However after a few minutes, the engine failed again, and
so the casualty was taken under tow. Due to the conditions, Sheerness
Lifeboat was requested to launch, whilst Whitstable Lifeboat towed the
casualty further offshore into deeper water. The two occupants were being
violently seasick, and the condition of one was giving cause for concern.
Sheerness Lifeboat arrived and took over the tow, and the
two occupants were taken aboard Whitstable Lifeboat to be landed ashore at
Sheerness, where they were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Sheerness Lifeboat subsequently towed the casualty to
Queenborough, whilst Whitstable Lifeboat returned to station through The
Swale.
