During the station's annual Open Day the
lifeboat launched following 999 call to Thames Coastguard that a Mirror
class sailing dinghy required assistance off Seasalter.
The lifeboat arrived on
scene to find the casualty, with one person aboard, being towed by a local
sailing club rescue boat. The
dinghy had been taking part in local racing but had blown downwind and had
found the adverse wind too much for it to get
back.
As no additional assistance was required the
lifeboat returned to station.
