About our station

The lifeboat answers approximately 60 to 70 calls per year, the majority being in the summer months.

All members of our crew are volunteers, with full time jobs elsewhere. The boathouse is normally unmanned, and the crew are summoned by pager, activated by the Coastguards. We also sometimes fire a maroon, as a back-up to the paging system, and to let a casualty know that help is on it's way.

Access to the boathouse is via the West Harbour gate, in Harbour Street.
