CHRISTOPHER MORRIS 1966-2001

Chris joined Winchester Tae Kwon-Do as a beginner in 1992 and with his easy-going nature and ready smile soon became a popular member of the club.  His dedication and regular attendance enabled him to progress through the grades and pass his Black Belt examination on April 26th 1996.

As a Black Belt he continued to train regularly, advancing his knowledge of the Art and helping to teach the junior grades.  His sons Paul and Jamie also became members of the club and he devoted much of his time in helping them to achieve their grades.

After a long period of illness, during which he still visited the club, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died shortly after a holiday in Jamaica with his brother.  It was typical of his nature that in the short period of time he had left he raised £2,500 for the McMillan Trust so that others with the same illness may benefit.

He will be sadly missed at the club, and his named will be preserved on the "Chris Morris Memorial Trophy" awarded annually to the Winchester Tae Kwon-Do student of the year.
