Everything registered in our brain pertaining to past or future situations is recalled through the utilisation of our unconscious mind. Like playing a record on a jukebox, when we evoke a memory or construct a future image, we access our unconscious mind to bring these specific thoughts and images into the present. What we take in unconsciously is far more than we are able to process consciously, and there are some situations where it can be useful to access the unconscious mind, via hypnosis, to assist individuals in generating personal change. Coaching smoking cessation and weight management are common areas where hypnosis techniques can be included, although this is not obligatory and the choice about whether to incorporate hypnosis will always be left to you.
