Schools serving Caddington

Schools used by Caddington children are in the three tier system. Years 1 to 4 in Lower Schools, Years 5 to 8 in Middle Schools and years 9 onwards in Upper Schools.

For lists of each (with links to their Ofsted reports), see below for the Lower, Middle and Upper schools serving Caddington.

Nearby Luton has its own education system with the more common split between primary and secondary education at 11 years old. Although some Luton children take up spare places in the local schools, I am not aware of any that make the reverse journey.

There is meant to be "parental choice" over which school you want your child to go to, but the reality is that popular schools are oversubscribed and set their admission policy for their own purposes. To qualify for some funding, schools must have a catchment area which they will take from ahead of other categories. Some schools (especially the Voluntary Aided ones) may have a proportion of places reserved for particular classes of student (e.g. religous observance).

It is worth knowing that there is no made up footpath to the school campus on the outskirts of Dunstable. The (narrow) road is mostly unlit and subject to the national speed limit. Free bus passes are given to children attending those schools (subject to conditions), since they are not supposed to cycle there.
