Comparisons

January had depressed maximum temperatures, but the minima were about average. February was generally cooler than average, but not excessively so. March was colder than normal but stayed 0.1C above the coldest March for 13 years. April recovered to something approaching normal, which May got almost spot on! June had some prolonged hot weather as well as a cold snap. A prolonged heatwave in July produced high figures throughout, including a new peak high. August had a few warm days in the first week, then fairly cool days thereafter. September was unusually warm (only six days failed to reach 20 degrees C). October was about average for the maximum temperatures, but the minima stayed well up. November was fairly average except that there were little in the way of extremes. (It felt warm on all but about six days.) Only one cool week up to Christmas, the rest was relatively mild.
