Caddington Village
Caddington is a large village in Bedfordshire. See here for a street map or here for an OS version.
The village had a Residents Association which funded the upkeep of a website at Caddingtom.com. That site has been taken over by the Parish Council. It contains some information about clubs, societies, etc. within the village. It also hosts the All Saints Church web site which contains details of some forthcoming events in the village. Nearby Slipend.co.uk caters for Slip End.
Clubs and societies in Caddington that have web sites, have their own page of links.
There are a variety of churches (see "The list" on the Residents Association site, above). The "village church" is All Saints, that dates from about the twelfth century. Information on the Roman Catholic church is available at its diocese page.
As regards education, I have a page of information about schools in the area.
The village has bus routes 202 (Dunstable via L&D Hospital through to Slip End and Harpenden, and back), 231 (Dunstable through to Slip End and Luton, and back) and 344 (Luton to St.Albans and back). Timetables are available here.
Although it has no routes terminating in the village (thank God), London Luton Airport makes its presence known. Bear this in mind if you want to buy a house here!
The Royal Mail (once known as Consignia) tends to deliver our mail from Monday to Saturday. The bills seem to get here in double quick time while the cheques are delayed (but not always by the postmen!). The collection of mail happens every day somewhere in the village. See my Mail Collection Times page.
If you really want to buy a house in Caddington there are a few things you ought to be aware of. There is some information about the development of Winchfield in the village in 2001. Martin Grant Homes has built on the site of the mobile home park in the centre of the village. The development of seventeen 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses has extended Mossman Drive and created Orchard Close. There were also smaller developments of bigger houses off Mancroft Road built by Allsopps (I'm told) and at the former "Ocean Breeze" site is in Aley Green. If you think that flooding is more likely, you might be advised not to buy in Aley Green unless you also buy a four wheel drive! Development of the area around the scout hut in Dunstable Road could start soon. An access has been constructed.
For the meteorlogically minded there are now some weather graphs based on the Slip End amateur weather station.
The county council has a local government page featuring Richard Stay. There are links from there to sites for the MP and the MEPs.
Shops and businesses in the village will be included, in time. I hope to include opening times of shops.
Finally, I have a photo gallery of local sights.
