Objectives

The Trustees have decided that as a small organisation the trust can interact best with the world at large via the medium of the Internet and a website. However given the large amount of archive material the Trust has available it will take a considerable time to put everything into digital form so that anyone can access it.

Consequently we are starting with a small basic site, which anyone can access and gives the user a clear picture of the current situation and how we can be contacted for information and advice.

We hope to update the site regularly including information on future developments on what will be coming online in the relatively near future, this information will be posted on our What’s New page once we begin to develop the site. Ultimately we see the site becoming a significant repository of information on Spoons, Norwich and East Anglian and Costume and Textiles.

In the future we will provide access to the main spoon database. The photographic archive, which already covers over 2000 images as well as information on other areas of silver. To these will be added information on costume and textiles, a major area of trade locally in medieval times, plus details of the large and important national collection which is held by the Norfolk Museum Service,

Hopefully it will also be possible to provide links to other sites, which are involved in the same heritage field as ourselves. It is possible that other books and images will become available from other sources over time. In the meantime anyone viewing the site can easily Contact Us through the methods listed and we will be only to pleased to answer people’s genuine questions.
