Oilstone Box

Use a nice piece of hardwood for your oilstone box.( Mine is teak )

Recess the bottom of the box a little more than half the thickness of the stone. Make it a good fit as the end blocks are held in by friction alone .

The end blocks need to be of something nice and hard and have their grain running top to bottom. in the same way as the tree grows.

Make the top a little less tight as a sticking lid on an oilstone box is a nuisence.

I put 4 pins in the bottom of my oilstone box so it doesn't slip around on The bench top.

Never hold your oilstone in your vice to use it as it will contaminate the vice jaws with oil.
