I am hoping to organise some kind of event to mark Victor Canning's hundredth birthday on 16th June 2011. This might take the form of a long weekend at a hotel in one of the towns close to the places he lived in and wrote about, either Plymouth, Barnstaple, Salisbury or Tonbridge. There would be talks, showings of some of the films, and a coach trip to Longleat, Exmoor or Kent as appropriate.
If you would like to be notified of plans as they develop, please send an e-mail to marlodge1—at—tiscali.co.uk (replace —at— with @ when mailing) with the subject line Centenary. Let me know if you have any preferences or ideas for the programme.
