The Islands

The Islands site is a dense concentration of coral pinnacles and patch reefs in a sheltered location along the Dahab shore, a labyrinthine range of peaks, valleys, corridors, sand patches, bowls, deep wells and coral peaks. This site derives it's name from these spectacular coral peaks.

There are many routes through these 'islands' and each provides a habitat for many different examples of flora and fauna. Divers usually head to the left after the entry point and follow a wide sandy valley before entering the intricate reef system. The quality and quantity of corals is phenomenal with all shapes, colours and varieties imaginable.

This intricate seascape is densely covered with absolutely pristine coral; the reef practically glows with a jewel-like quality. The range, condition and density are awesome - this is probably the most diverse and well preserved selection of corals in the Sinai area. Every conceivable stony coral is present, with a diversity of soft corals to match.

Enjoy the many coloured corals, or weave through the valleys of Brain Coral. Watch the large shoals of Barracuda, or get close to the Turtles. Other fish life includes big groupers, glittering anthias, schools of glassfish, unicornfish, surgeons, napoleons, lionfish, crocodilefish and puffers. With such a variety of fish life and corals, and the ability to dive new paths through the site, the Islands is a beautiful and relaxing dive which you will want to return to.

Due to the maximum depth of about 16m, this site is suitable for beginners as well as experienced divers. The islands receive direct sunlight all day long and visibility is very good.
