Cycle Perth

The next county north from Kinross is Perthshire, the "gateway to the Highlands." The city of Perth as a lot to offer cyclists, the work of the Perth & Kinross Cycle Campaign, known as By-cycle which has worked closely with the Perth & Kinross Council to improve the lot of cyclists in the city... within the limitations of their budget.

Sustrans and the National Cycle Network have two routes in Perthshire; The Carlisle to Inverness Route NCN 7 and and the Balinluig to Dundee Route NCN77. The Balinluig to Dundee route has not been completed, parts of the route are in place from Balinluig to Dunkeld and from Perth to Dundee, the missing portion is expected to be completed sometime in the future.

The old Tayside Regional Council, established, but did not promote a route for cyclists heading north, avoiding the A9, it is expected that this route and the path along the newly completed Tay Flood Prevention Scheme will provide the basis for the missing link.
