Match Report - Sunday 13th October 2002 League Cup
First Round
Canvey Orient 1 v 11 Inter Kingswood
What an amazing game. An 11-1 victory, which could
have been a lot more, against a side who did not give up,
but who were just simply played off of the park by a
better side.
Inter only had twelve players available to select
from, as Billy and Lol Turner where on holiday in much
sunnier climbs. Rikki was ill, and Barry had a family
committment.
We had 85% of the play in the first half, yet with
than less than five minutes to go in that half, we were
still only 2-0 a head, which was not a true reflection of
the balance of play. Some of our build up play was
excellent and it was only down to poor finishing and that
`final pass` going astray that prevented us from being
more goals ahead.
After all of the chances which we had it was rather a
scrappy goal by Jamie Gough that began the scoring for us.
The goal seemed to calm us down some what. This was
quickly followed by another goal, this time Matty Bowden
got his name on the score sheet.
The last ten minutes of the half saw Canvey come back
into the game quite strongly, which produced a very good
save from Sean Powell, who managed to tip over a pile
driver from the edge of the box. Then against the run of
play and just coming up to half time Craig and Lewis
scored a goal a peace, to send us in at halftime 4-0 a
head.
The second half saw us firing on all cylinders and
scoring seven more goals to run out 11-1 winners. We were
7-0 a head before Canvey managed their solitary goal,
which was a debateable score to say the least. A shot hit
the underneath of the bar which then appeared to have
been cleared off of the line, but a goal was awarded.
Some of our second half football was truely
breathtaking. We ended up with six seperate players
scoring goals and the others trying very hard to emulate
them. Matty scored two more goals in the second half to
get his hat trick as did Lewis Newman, Craig scored
another one to take his tally to two fro the game.
Jaggers and spud also scored one a peace to finish off
the scoring.
Besides a good all round team performance, there were
some good individual performances as well, with the Man
of the Match award going to Lewis Newman, the second one
that he has been awarded this season, for his hat trick
and continued effort throughout the game.
At the end of the game all of the players were
deservedly clapped off of the pitch by their supporting
parents.
