Match
Report - September 22nd, 2002 League
Inter Kingswood 6, Southend Manor 3.
It is good to see that the boys are listening and
taking on board the advice that is being given to them
from Paul and Lol. Once again all four subs were used.
The competition for places at the Club is good to see
with everybody giving their all, whether they are
starting or coming on as sub. A nice headache for Paul
Coulson to have.
Our first competetive match in the Premier Division of
the Southend Junior Sunday League saw us up against
Southend Manor who last season saw them finish third in
the Premiership and runners-up in the cup. Not easy
opposition for our baptism in the Southend League.
We took the field looking resplendent in our brand new
dark blue Nike football strip with the Club name on the
back and our sponsers name on the front. We looked a
class out fit and we certainly went on to play like one
as well.
We were not at all over awed by the occasion, quite
the opposite infact. We had the best of the early play
with some very good football, which was not reflected in
the score. We took the lead through Matt Bowden with
about ten minutes left of the first half only for Manor
to quickly equalise. By halftime we were three one ahead
with yet another goal from Matt Bowden and another from
Lol Turner.
The second half started with manor coming out with all
guns blazing and within ten minutes gone they had pulled
the match back to three goals each and looked like
scoring even more goals, although it has to be said that
this was more down to poor marking and lack of
concentration on our part.
The game quickly turned when we scored a fourth
through Lol Turner, his second of the game, which
appeared to knock the fight out of Manor. After this we
did not look back and scored two more goals through Barry
Lough, making his debut for the club and Spud.
Overall we were worthy winners and the 6 - 3 result
was a fair reflection of our domination of the game. The
game also saw Jamie Gough making his debut for the club.
The man of the match award deservedly went to Lewis
Newman, for his tireless efforts up and down our left
flank.
