Match
Report - September 29th, 2002 League Cup
Inter Kingswood 5, Shoebury Boys 0.
This was a first round League Cup tie against a side
from the B Division of the Southend League, who last week
had a fantasic result when they beat Hullbridge Sports 8
- 1. They arrived for this game in what can only be
descibed as a boyuant mood.
The difference of two Divisions between the sides was
obvious from early on, and the first half was nearly all
Kingswood. The early play saw some good pass and move
football from the home side, but although the build up
play was good the finishing did not match it. Too many
chances went begging and it was only down to two well
taken goals from Lorri Turner that saw us go in at half
time two nil up.
Shoebury did not trouble the home side too much
defencifely, but it required an excellent save from Sean
Powell just before half time, to keep our two goal lead.
Right at the start of the second half Kingswood
conceded an unecessary penalty, which was then saved by
Sean Powell, which was to prove to be a turning point of
the game. If Shoebury had scored then the out come of the
game could have been slightly different. Seans save
appeared to give Kingswood the boost that they needed and
they went on to score three more goals to run out worthy
winners 5-0.
The third goal was scored by Jake Whiffen, Lorri,
completing his hat trick, scored the fourth and Ricky
Symeou from the penalty spot, scored the fifth.
This was some what of a strange performance, because
although we scored five goals and created quite a few
more chances, it would be fair to say that this was not
one of our better team performances.
Lorri Turners hat trick performance saw him deservedly
given the Man of the Match award from Manager Paul
Coulson.
