Acknowledgement

Thanks firstly to my father (Tom Hay) who gave me the medals and vellum which had been presented to his grandfather for his part in the rescue of the crew of the "SS Xenia". This is what started me off researching the historic trail of the ship and her crew, and of the brave fishermen and their dramatic rescue.

Thanks also to Alex John Freeland Strachan, who gave me the photograph of the crew. His Grandfather was also one of the Whinnyfold fishermen.
