Home of the Yorkshire Musical Saw Player
Hey up...Welcome to my web
site where I aim to provide advice about playing the musical saw. This
site has been recently updated with new information and samples about saws,
composers, resources and much more. You will
find information on the different types of instruments, where to get them from,
how to play them and what to expect. I've thrown in some humour (of sorts),
history, physics as well as some information about what I do.
Although in the UK the instrument is not as popular as say America, through my concerts, workshops,
demonstrations and radio/TV appearances I hope to change all of that. A new version of the Parkstone Melody Musical Saw
has recently been announced and it will be produced right here in Yorkshire.
This will hopefully start a new generation of cutting edge musicians. So if you're interested in
having a go, or are just interested to see how it is played, then please browse around this site.
Simply point at the titles in the menu bar above and select a page from the list that appears.
As a performer I do perform across
Europe for formal concerts, music hall events, cabaret, weddings, folk, unusual events
and occasionally for Radio and TV. I was a soloist for the BBC's Yorkshire
Symphony which was written by Benjamin Till and was first performed on Yorkshire
Day in 2010. I also provide musical saw workshops for large corporations and music festivals
and carry out one to one lessons either online or at home. More will be explained on the other pages.
I am always interested to hear from other musical saw players (rumbajacks!)
as well as enquiries about performing (almost anywhere).
Plus if you would like to share your stories,
saw jokes and comments please get in touch.
Best wishes
