SDLP MLAs Patsy McGlone and Pat Catney
have met with the Auditor General for Northern Ireland following the
collapse of Carillion.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr McGlone
said, “We’ve had a positive meeting with the Auditor General. The collapse
of Carillion has left hundreds of workers facing immense uncertainty about
their job security in the short term and their pension security in the

now focussed on supporting those workers as well as identifying the failures
that led to such a substantial collapse in a firm operating on a significant
number of public sector contracts.
“The news today that Capita stocks
have nosedived places further pressure on the system of outsourcing public
services and will require a significant review. We also referred the
security of the PIP assessment contract, which currently rests with Capita,
to the Auditor General for further inquiries.
“The SDLP will be continuing to liaise
with the Audit Office as further inquiries are raised to ensure the security
of the Carillion workers and of public sector contracts.”
