SDLP put pressure on Israeli
Ambassador
SDLP Deputy Leader Patsy McGlone MLA has
delivered a letter to the Israeli Ambassador in Dublin today expressing his
Party’s condemnation at the actions of the Israeli Government against those
delivering aid to Gaza.
The Mid Ulster MLA said: “I wrote to the Israeli Ambassador expressing the
SDLP’s strong condemnation of the recent action taken by the Israeli
Government against civilians on a humanitarian mission to Gaza.
“Their mission was to provide humanitarian aid and building supplies to the
area, and the extreme, violent and disproportionate response by the Israeli
forces must be denounced as a violation of human rights. These actions
cannot and will not go unchallenged.
“The SDLP is a party that has always stood up for Human and Civil Rights,
and we have called for the immediate release of all civilians, vessels and
aid by the Israeli government.
“The international community will not allow Israel to continue to show such
disregard for international law and human rights, and we in the SDLP will
pursue this matter further at every level available to us.”
