Mid Ulster SDLP Select Patsy
McGlone as Assembly Candidate
The
Mid Ulster SDLP have selected sitting MLA Patsy McGlone as a candidate for
next year’s Assembly elections. The selection meeting took place on
Wednesday 3rd November in Cookstown. The decision will now go to the party’s
Election Organisation Committee for confirmation when a second candidate may
be added.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr McGlone said, “I am delighted and honoured to
have been selected by local party members to stand again for election to the
Assembly to represent the people of Mid Ulster.
“The election next year will be an opportunity for the public to give their
verdict on the representation they have had from all Assembly members.
“Being from Mid Ulster I know the problems facing rural communities.
“My offices in Cookstown and Maghera are open to all constituents.
“I have provided help and representation for the local community on a wide
number of issues including planning, benefits advice, access to health
services, and difficulties connected to the economic crisis.
“I am proud to have served the people of Mid Ulster. If re-elected I will
continue to provide that service to the best of my ability.”
