Cookstown Council Chairman Congratulates Tyrone Courier

The Chairman of Cookstown District Council, SDLP Councillor Patsy, McGlone, has congratulated the editor and staff of the Tyrone Courier on the newspaper’s 125^th Anniversary.

Mr McGlone said –

“As Chairman of Cookstown District Council I’d like to congratulate the editor and staff of the Tyrone Courier, which has reached the milestone of its 125^th Anniversary as a newspaper.

Local newspapers are hugely important in any community. By keeping people informed on news and events in the area they can enhance the feeling of belonging within the community.  By striving for the best journalism in reporting that local news they also provide a valuable training ground for aspiring journalists within the community, and by building a successful business they help the local economy.

The Tyrone Courier has succeeded in all these areas in the 125 years of its existence and all those involved in that success, past and present, deserve enormous congratulations on this landmark occasion.”
