Cookstown SDLP raise maintenance
and newbuild with Housing Executive
SDLP representatives in
Cookstown met with Housing Executive officials last week to highlight local
concerns about Housing Executive properties.
The SDLP delegation, led by MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, and including
Cllrs Mary Baker and Tony Quinn and local SDLP representative Christine
McFlynn, met with local Housing Executive officers on Wednesday 9th
September.
Speaking after the meeting Mr McGlone said, “We arranged the meeting with
Housing Executive to raise a number of specific cases which local
constituents had brought to our attention, including maintenance and repairs
within the District.
“Among the issues raised were concerns about maintenance and heating at
Greenvale and Ratheen Avenue in Cookstown and car parking provision at
Lakeview Cottages, Ardboe.
“We were able to highlight all these cases at the meeting and, in some
instances, resolve the problems involved.
“We will continue to lobby the Housing Executive for action in the
outstanding cases and will monitor the ongoing situation.
However, of special concern to us was the growing waiting list for housing,
particularly in Cookstown. We heard that, unusually, the Housing
Associations appear to be having difficultly in obtaining land, and
therefore have asked for further details of progress of the newbuild
programme.”
