McGlone Welcomes Blackpark Waste Water Upgrades

SDLP MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, has welcomed confirmation from NI Water that waste water collection and treatment infrastructure in the Toomebridge and Creagh area is being upgraded following recent flooding. NI Water have said that the refurbishment of the Blackpark Waste water Pumping Station and the laying of a new pumping main to the upgraded Creagh Waste water Treatment Works will be completed in December 2010.

Mr McGlone said, “Many local residents contacted my office following flooding in the area in July this year with their ongoing concerns that the waste water collection infrastructure in the area was not fit to cope.

“I had raised those concerns with NI Water and I welcome their decision to upgrade and refurbish the pumping stations and treatment works in the area.

“It is to be hoped that when this work is completed in December 2010 the problems that residents have experienced recently will not re-occur.”
