Mathilda and Jack had to 'nip over the wall ' before starting work at6.00.a.m. to get married (pregnant) . No guests. Both went to work after the service. Mathilda got a 'good hiding' from her father when shegot home from work for getting married. Mathilda and Jack were both 18 years old when they married. Mathilda lived in Scarborough Street, Lea Fair (West Ardsley) before marrying.
